Barbara Sheppard Daniel Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Sheppard Daniel, 88, of Gordon, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday July 17, 2022, at 102 Forrest Avenue, Gordon, Georgia, from 2 PM to 6 PM. Daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Benford Sheppard, Barbara was a lifelong resident of Gordon, she retired from Freeport Kaolin Co. and was a member of the Gordon First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband: Billy “Sonny” Daniel; her son: David M. Daniel; Sister: Elizabeth S. Layton; Brother: Smith Mearck; Granddaughter: Lynda Popkin, she was a member of the Gordon Golden Girls and Billy Group, (name given to Ms. Barbara, Ms. Mary Lillian White, Mrs. Jo Williams, Ms. Brenda Williams and Mr. Billy Griffin), They traveled all over Georgia and the mountains. Ms. Barbara didn’t like to be idle, her smiling face and soft voice usually greeted everyone at the City of Ivey for 15 years, before finally retiring to enjoy traveling with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended families and friends, whether it be to the mountains, the beach, the lake or wherever there was a Goodwill. Survivors include Daughter: Pat and Mack Lee of Gordon; Daughter-in-law: Sherry Daniel of Jones County; Sisters: Sulin Bentley of Gordon and Rosemary Hardeman of Ivey; Brother: Harold K. and Janet Sheppard of McIntyre; Grandchildren: Lance and Dana, Keith and Ellen, Rachael and Will, Dalton, Vickie and Brandon; Great-Grandchildren: Kaley, Ashley, Caitlin, Hagan, Pressley, Skyler, Jordan, Richard, Allison, Avy and Landon and a Number of Nieces and Nephews.
