Funeral Services for Mrs. Eudell Roland Pinnell age 101 who passed away Feb. 16, 2013 will be conducted Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm at New Haven Baptist Church with Rev. W.C. Bloodworth, Rev. Roy Tolbert Rev.Gabby Loyd And Rev. Sam Loyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at Williams White Columns Funeral Home Gordon. The daughter of the late John & Lillian Mixon Roland. Born in Dodge County Georgia on November 2, 1911. She graduated from Dodge County High School in 1933, winning honors in poetry recitation & playing on the girl?s basketball team. She was married in 1933,to Grady E. Pinnell, riding in a horse and buggy to the preacher?s house. They later made their home in Twiggs County. He preceded her in death 1978. She was also predeceased by brothers, JD, Mixon, Quincy, James Roland; son , Ray Pinnell, daughters-in-law, Shirley Ann Vinson Floyd Pinnell and Cynthia Stapleton Pinnell. She is survived by her children Wilson E (Joyce Ward) Pinnell of Macon, Ralph Q. Pinnell, Sr.(Shirley Melvin) of Macon, Glenn Pinnell of Gordon and Ann P (Dave)Sarratt of Suffolk Va.; a sister Jean (Aaron) Haskins of Macon, brother Lt Col (Ret Army) Virgil B Roland of Atlanta; grandchildren, Sherry P Glass, Jeff, Tim, Reggie Stephen, Quinn Pinnell, Jeff Floyd,Travis, Edward Pinnell, Denise Sarratt Shoemaker and Rebecca Sarratt Moore; 21 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren whom she loved dearly, with one more expected in May and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Pinnell, affectionately called ? Miss Eudell? and ?Granny?, taught many community children picking them up to go to Sunday School, Church, and Vacation Bible School. She served in many capacities at New Haven Baptist Church for approximately 56 years before moving to Virginia to live with her daughter Ann, while maintaining her home in Twiggs County. Mrs Pinnell enjoyed singing, writing poems including one entitled ?The Flood of ?94?, referring to the flooding in Macon that year. She play harmonica which she gladly performed for anyone, being taught by her brothers at an early age. She learned hard work growing up picking cotton on her father?s sharecropper farm with her brothers. She raised four sons and one daughter often alone while Mr. Pinnell was away on long truck hauls around the country providing for his family. She loved the Lord and doing his work. Her desire is for all her family and everyone to meet her in heaven by receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour. She taught us well. She was strong, independent and God fearing. Thank you mama, granny and great granny. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations to Ronald McDonald House in memory of great-grandchildren Amanda Hope, Benjamin Samuel and Audrey Grace Shoemaker or New Haven Baptist Church Building Fund, 893 New Haven Church Rd Gordon, Ga.31031. Special Thanks to all her care givers; nieces Sandra, Susan and Brenda for care and love given in recent weeks. Thank you to little great-great- great nephew Braden for singing ?Good Morning? to her in her last days. Special Thanks to Louise Diggs and Paulette Moore of Virginia for wonderful care given. The Family will be at the home of Eudell Pinnell.
